How to sign up for Prime Student and start a free trial?

If you’re a college student and want to sign up for Amazon Prime Student, all you need is a .edu email address, which you can easily obtain from your college.

You may have noticed that your college’s website link always ends with the .edu domain (e.g. https://www.harvard.edu/), making it easy for them to create unlimited .edu email addresses with students’ names.

Here are five steps to sign up for Prime Student with an existing Amazon account:

  1. Log in to your Amazon account.
  2. Navigate to “Start Your 6-Month Free Trial.”
  3. Fill out the required information, such as your .edu email address, expected graduation date, and credit card information.
  4. Verify your email address (you’ll receive an email in your .edu email inbox or spam folder).
  5. Congratulations! You have successfully created your Amazon Prime account and started your free trial.

If you’re not an existing Amazon user, first create an account using any email address, then repeat the steps above.

What if you don’t have a .edu email address?

If you’re unable to obtain a .edu email address, don’t worry! You can still sign up for a six-month free trial and membership for Amazon Prime Student. Amazon offers alternative ways for students to access the Prime Student membership.

Here’s how you can do it:

If you don’t have a .edu email address, email any of the following documents to the amazon-student-verification@amazon.com email address:

  • Student ID with a valid expiry date
  • Transcript or class list (must have college name on it)

Amazon Prime Student Cons 🙁

Besides lots of benefits of Prime Student, it has also some cons that you must consider before purchasing the membership.

  • Single-user membership: Prime Student membership can’t be shared by others. So, if you are planning to share it and split the cost with your friend then it’s not possible with Prime Student.
  • Available in limited cities: At the present time, Amazon Prime is available only in a limited number of countries, including the 50 states of the US, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, the Republic of Ireland, and the UK.

What’s changed with the Prime Student?

In the beginning, Amazon Prime Student comes with a lot of features and benefits. It included a 6-month free trial of LinkedIn Premium, a Free 3-month of Calm Subscription, 1 month of CourseHero Trial, Free travel service with StudentUniverse, and a few more.

But, not anymore. I don’t know why these features with Prime Student have been removed. Still, the cost of Amazon Prime Student is the same and satisfactory. Instead of paying a high price (i.e. 139/year) for Amazon Prime, it always makes sense to go with Prime Student (i.e. 69/year) and save money if you’re a student.

Our Final Thoughts:

All in all, Amazon Prime Student is beneficial for college students and a student must take its free trial and membership. while most of the best features have been removed, the cost is still worth paying.

As you also get the best deals on college essentials with 2-day or same-day free shipping.

So yeah! If you’re a college student, don’t miss out on this opportunity and take the free trial of 6 months today.
