While you can take individual courses, I generally recommend following the full sequence unless you already have prior knowledge.

This course introduces digital marketing programs and career opportunities in the field. It covers five main topics, each divided into multiple subtopics, providing a structured approach to learning over five weeks.

The course begins with an overview of digital marketing, different marketing approaches, and the role of social media in business.

You’ll learn how to create and utilize social media for business, with a primary focus on Facebook.

From there, you’ll explore various social media platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, WeChat, TikTok, and Snapchat, understanding their unique purposes and how businesses can leverage them by delivering different types of content.

Next, you’ll dive into setting marketing goals, using the SMART framework, and identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success in social media marketing.

The course also covers selecting the right social media platforms based on your business objectives, along with the essential social media policies businesses must follow.

According to Coursera, this is a five-week course requiring 2-4 hours per week. However, there are no strict deadlines, allowing you to learn at your own pace.

In the next section, I’ll share tips on optimizing your learning experience to get the most out of this course.

2. Social Media Management

This course series will guide you through everything from establishing your social media presence to evaluating your performance. It covers four key topics.

First, you’ll explore a career in digital marketing and learn how to create a strong social media presence on platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

You’ll also be introduced to the EPIC Brand Framework, which consists of Existence, Purpose, Identity, and Correction—essential elements for building a successful brand.

Next, you’ll learn about different social media platforms and their content structures. You’ll discover what to post—whether it’s text, images, or short-form videos—and how to create engaging content tailored to each platform.

Managing social media content is crucial, and this section will teach you what to post, how to organize your content effectively, and strategies to make it go viral.

You’ll also learn how to use a content calendar to stay consistent and how to repurpose content for maximum reach.

Finally, you’ll explore how to analyze your social media performance using insights from platforms like Facebook and Instagram, helping you refine your strategy and improve engagement.

3. Fundamentals of Social Media Advertising:

This course gives you the fundamental knowledge of social media advertising. You will learn how to invest in paid ads for marketing, how to get sources, create effective ads, and determine your KPIs.

You will also get to know about amazing tools to create effective visuals and tools to employ for effective copy. Along with that, you will also get aware of data, and privacy on policies on running ads on social media platforms.

Finally, you’ll get started with advertising on Facebook and Instagram. As I told you in the beginning, this course is offered by Meta, so it’s obvious this course will mostly focus on Facebook and Instagram advertisements. This brings us to the next course.

4. Advertising with Meta

This course will provide you with a comprehensive guide on advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Initially, you will become familiar with Facebook ads, career opportunities in this field, tools for advertising on Facebook, campaign structure, and more.

You will also learn about setting campaign objectives and budgets for advertising on Facebook or Instagram. Additionally, you will discover how to select your target audience, choose ad placements, and schedule your ads in Ads Manager.

Furthermore, you will learn how to create, edit, and troubleshoot your ads in Ads Manager, as well as how to track your campaign’s performance and results.

Finally, you will gain practical learning through hands-on projects, where you will learn how to build your own campaign in Meta Ads Manager.

5. Measure and Optimize Social Media Marketing Campaigns

After gaining in-depth knowledge of advertising with Meta, this course will help you learn how to measure and optimize the campaigns you create.

When setting up ad campaigns for businesses, you may have significant goals related to conversions and leads. This course will teach you how to evaluate your marketing results against these goals and introduce you to ROI (return on investment) measurement.

Furthermore, you will learn how to optimize advertising using A/B testing, set up A/B testing, and measure across channels with attribution.

Finally, the course provides guidance on presenting your campaign results and effective communication skills for presentations, which can be helpful if you work for a company.

This is the final course in the series where you’ll sign up for the Digital Marketing Associate Certification Exam with Meta and prepare for your Capstone project.

You will take the Digital Marketing Associate Certification Exam and learn how to access the exam on Meta’s platform. Upon completion of the exam, you will conclude the Meta Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate Program.

As I mentioned earlier, there are quizzes throughout the course that you must complete in order to be eligible for the certificate.

Don’t worry too much about these quizzes as they are not very difficult. If you have effectively learned the material, you should be able to answer the questions with ease.

Upon completion of all six courses and the projects, you will receive two certificates: the Coursera Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate and the Digital Marketing Associate.

These certificates are accredited by ACE and are valuable for obtaining a job in social media marketing.

Please note that in order to earn these certificates, you will also need to complete the Capstone project in the sixth course, as I previously mentioned.

Now let me tell you how much this complete course will cost you. If you are from India, you can enroll in this course for just INR 3415 with access for 3 months (learning 5 hours per week).

However, the price of the course depends on your learning speed. If you think you can finish this course in a month, you may try the monthly access option, where you’ll have to pay just INR 1707.

If you need more time, you may try 6 months of access, which I would not recommend for everyone.

In my opinion, you should go with 3 months of access to learn and understand everything effectively while giving yourself proper time. No matter which plans you opt for, you get unlimited access to all 6 courses and a shareable Meta certificate of completion.

If you’re from India, this can be the best deal for you at this price, and I highly encourage you to enroll in this course if you find it worth it.

My Final Verdict:

Meta Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate course is one of the best courses for beginners who want to learn social media marketing skills primarily focused on Facebook and Instagram. From establishing your online presence to running paid ads, you learn in this course. This course provides lots of value at an affordable price.

Additionally, it’s offered by Meta itself, where you’ll earn accredited professional certificates from Meta.

If social media marketing and running ads and campaigns fascinate you, I must say you should take this course. It may surprise you to know that many people offer courses on Facebook ads and charge up to $400.

If you want to make a career in social media marketing and lack social media marketing or digital marketing skills, you may start with this course. However, you must consider the pros and cons (listed in the beginning) and alternatives to this course before enrolling.

Like the Meta Professional certificate, it doesn’t include Facebook ads and campaigns in content but gives you a good wealth of knowledge about social media marketing. It could be a good course to consider if you’re a complete beginner and want to learn social marketing from scratch.
