For those who don’t know me, I must tell you that I already have decent knowledge and experience in Digital Marketing. The main purpose of enrolling in this course was to share a detailed review of it so that you could make a better decision.

This professional certification program is part of the Google Career Certificates designed by senior practitioners at Google. It includes seven series of courses that help you establish a solid foundation in Digital Marketing & E-Commerce.

You can individually take the free audit of these courses, but if you’re just starting out with digital marketing and have no prior experience, it is always recommended to take the course from the beginning.

This Google professional certification program is available on Coursera, and the platform does a decent job of making the course interesting and engaging. Each course offers a series of lessons with various types of learning opportunities.

The complete course material includes videos, readings, discussion forums, self-reviews, in-video questions, graded quizzes, and more. Personally, I appreciate the in-video questions that keep you active during the lectures.

Additionally, you can also set a weekly goal to complete the course on time. You will also be asked to take a survey and share your experience.

Note: In order to obtain the Google Digital Marketing & E-Commerce Professional Certificate, it is necessary not only to complete the entire course but also to achieve a passing score of 80% or higher in the graded quizzes. You are also allowed to take the test multiple times.

Who is this program good for?

As I mentioned, this certification program is specifically designed to be accessible to anyone who wishes to enroll. It begins from a foundational level and covers all the essential concepts of Digital Marketing and E-Commerce.

Therefore, you should not feel obligated to learn coding or marketing techniques in order to create a website or drive sales. This course will provide comprehensive instruction starting from the basics.

If you have the enthusiasm to learn about digital marketing and how to establish an e-commerce store, you can confidently embark on this program.

In general, I find this program particularly beneficial for:

  • Individuals who wish to acquire an in-demand skill and pursue a career in the digital marketing or e-commerce industry.
  • Students seeking to explore a new career path alongside their academic pursuits.
  • People looking to transition their career into the Digital Marketing or E-Commerce industry due to its high demand.
  • Individuals who want to take their traditional business or physical store into the online realm, targeting a global audience.

If learning SEO, email marketing, running ad campaigns, and setting up an e-commerce store sounds intriguing to you, you should definitely enroll or take a free audit of this course.

However, if you already have a clear understanding of the foundations of digital marketing, I would not recommend this program. It would be better for you to seek advanced digital marketing courses instead.

My Experience with the Program:

In the beginning, I shared the experiences of other users who have successfully completed the course and obtained a professional certificate through this program.

Now, I will provide my own perspective on the program and discuss what aspects I liked and disliked about it.

What did I like about the program?

  • The program is engaging and interesting. It offers a variety of learning materials such as videos, readings, in-video questions, and graded quizzes, which enhance the effectiveness of the learning process. Unlike many other online courses, this program keeps you thoroughly engaged, ensuring that you won’t get bored while pursuing the course.
  • As the program is offered by Google and taught by senior technicians from Google, it instills trust in the course material. You will learn all the fundamental but essential concepts of digital marketing and e-commerce store management. Right from the start, you will be provided with all the necessary materials and frameworks to begin your journey in digital marketing and e-commerce.
  • The entire program is designed in a manner that effectively prepares you for an entry-level position as a digital marketing coordinator or e-commerce specialist. Additionally, you will receive a valuable certificate directly from Google, which can be added to your LinkedIn profile and resume, highlighting your skills and enhancing your credibility.
  • Unlike other digital marketing and e-commerce foundation courses, this program is highly affordable and also provides a free audit of the course material. This allows you to assess the content before making a decision to enroll or pass on the course.

What did I dislike about the program?

  • The program also includes a discussion forum for learners to engage with each other and seek clarification on their doubts, which is quite beneficial. However, it is disappointing to note that instructors do not actively participate in this forum.
  • The course solely consists of recorded videos and readings, lacking any live classes for interaction with instructors and career guidance.

When embarking on a new course in a different field, it is crucial to have an understanding of what you will be learning. If the subjects covered in the course sound intriguing and align with your desire to enhance your skills in those areas, you will likely engage more actively with the course.

Allow me to provide an overview of what you can expect to learn in the Google Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Professional Certificate program.

As mentioned previously, the program comprises a total of seven series of courses.

You’re also allowed to separately take these courses but If you’re a beginner I’d not recommend it.

On average, the complete course takes three months to finish by learning 16hrs a week. Now let’s dive into each series of courses to see what knowledge you may gain…

1. Foundations of Digital Marketing and E-commerce

Google Digital Marketing and e commerce professional certificate review in 2023- First course in series: what you learn in this program

This course will teach you the definition of Digital Marketing and E-Commerce, as well as how they have evolved. In the first week of the program, all instructors will introduce themselves and share information about their field of expertise and what they will be teaching.

This fundamental course will help you understand the importance of Digital Marketing and E-Commerce for a business and how they create value. You will also be introduced to the marketing funnel and customer journey, which are crucial aspects of digital marketing.

To enhance the learning experience, you will also have the opportunity to study case studies and receive free resources, such as a Glossary on Digital Marketing and E-Commerce.

Finally, you will learn how to prepare for a job search, find job opportunities, and build confidence which will be more covered in the last series of this program.

2. Attract and Engage Customers with Digital Marketing

In this course, you’ll learn about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM). Both are my favorite concepts in Digital Marketing, and I love to teach and talk about them. In fact, if you’re reading this article after finding it on Google, it may be because of SEO.

Have you ever wondered how websites or blogs rank on Google? That’s the magic of SEO or SEM.

SEO is the organic way to drive traffic (i.e. users) to a website, blog, or landing page, while SEM involves advertising opportunities within search engines to rank the page and drive traffic.

I’m glad this course will not only teach you what SEO is all about but also help you apply it to a website to improve its ranking in Google Search. In addition to this, you’ll also learn about customer personas and how to display paid ads on Google Search.

Now I can explain every part of the course but that would make the article unnecessarily long. I want you to take this course if you’re inclined to learn Digital Marketing. Trust me, you’ll surely find it worth it.

3. From Likes to Leads: Interact with Customers Online

In the previous series course, you learned about SEO and SEM, which are both associated with search engines like Google and used to drive traffic and conversions.

In this course, the goal remains the same, but you will now explore the use of social media platforms to drive engagement for businesses.

You will discover how to leverage different social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and more, to promote a business effectively. You will also learn how to run suitable campaigns on these platforms to drive conversions and sales.

Furthermore, the course will cover measuring social media analytics and utilizing analytical tools and gathered data to monitor progress and make improvements.

The final module of this course will primarily focus on teaching ads. If you are particularly interested in paid social media marketing and wish to gain more knowledge, I highly recommend enrolling in the META Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate course.

4. Think Outside the Inbox: Email Marketing

This course in series specifically focuses on analytics and measurement. You will gain hands-on experience with various analytical tools, including Google Analytics and Google Ads, to determine the ROI or ROAS of a marketing project.

Additionally, you will learn how to plan and conduct A/B testing to optimize a marketing campaign. This knowledge will be invaluable in creating a successful marketing campaign.

6. Make the Sale: Build, Launch, and Manage E-commerce Stores

Until now, you have learned about digital marketing, but the program also includes teaching e-commerce.

In this particular course, you will learn all about e-commerce and selling products online. You will learn how to start an e-commerce project, explore different e-commerce stores, run ad campaigns to reach out to customers and engage with them to make online sales.

Additionally, you will gain experience with Shopify. You will build a dummy store and create product listings on it.

7. Satisfaction Guaranteed: Develop Customer Loyalty Online

This is the final series course, and it’s also relevant to e-commerce stores. This course will teach you the importance of loyalty in the e-commerce industry and how to build good customer relationships.

Furthermore, you’ll learn how to gather and analyze data for an online store to improve conversions and sales.

To conclude the course, you’ll engage in a series of interactive activities based on the concepts you’ve explored and the skills you’ve gained throughout the program. Additionally, you’ll receive guidance on job search and interview skills.

By the end of this course, you may have also obtained the Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Professional Certificate.

Is Google Digital Marketing Professional Certification Worth it?

In my opinion, the Google Digital Marketing Professional Certification is absolutely worth it for beginners in the Digital Marketing and E-Commerce industry. The program covers all the basics and essential concepts, preparing you for entry-level roles such as digital marketing coordinator or e-commerce specialist.

The course provides hands-on experience with various tools and practical learning opportunities. Since it is offered by Google itself, it instills trust in the content.

Moreover, the professional certification you receive is valid. Adding it to your resume and LinkedIn profile can showcase your skills and help you find job opportunities.

It is disappointing that the course does not include live sessions to interact with instructors, nor do instructors participate in the discussion forum. Despite this drawback, the course material is excellent.

How much does this course cost?

If you’re from India, this course will cost you only INR 2,286 for 3 months of access. (learning 16 hours a week)

My Google Digital Marketing and e commerce professional certificate review in 2023- how much it cost and whether the price is worth it?

However, the actual cost may vary depending on how quickly you can complete the course. If you believe you can finish it in one month, the price will be lower. On the other hand, if you prefer a 6-month access period, the course price will increase to INR 3,429.

If you have a flexible schedule, I highly recommend opting for the 3-month course as it allows for effective learning while costing less.

Alternatively, you can also consider signing up for a Coursera Plus membership, which provides unlimited access to over 7,000 courses, including other professional certifications from Google and Meta.
