Now let’s dive into sailor entry…

But remember the syllabus, exam interview, and responsibilities of an Officer cadet is more than a Sailor cadet.

3: Navy SSR and AA

The third one is Sailor Entry, and you must have heard about it. Even most of the students join Indian Navy after 12th through these two entries. Let’s discuss one by one…

SSR (Senior Secondary Recruitment):

This is a direct entry, conducted by the Indian Navy twice (Dec-Jan and Jun-Aug) in a year.

There are two-phase exams in this entry. The first one is the online exam and the other phase is PFT (Physical Fitness Test).

After qualifying for both exams, students can go for 22 weeks of training and after that, they can join the Indian Navy as a sailor.

During the training of a sailor, the Salary would be 10k-15k but after the training the Salary would be 40k-50k.

Eligibility:

The Age for applying form should be 16-19 years. And you should be qualified in 12th with Mathematics, Physics and one more subject (Che/Bio/or Com).

An SSR cadet works on Modern ships, Guided Missile Destroyers, Electrical Power Systems, and others while I can do their Jobs in Radars, Sonars, or Communication, or Firing of weapons and rockets.

AA (Artificer Apprentice):

This is again a sailor entry and in this entry, the vacancy date, exam process is the same as SSR but the training period of an AA cadet is 9 weeks and the salary could be more than SSR cadet.

Eligibility:

All conditions as the same as SSR but students should qualify 12th with at least 60% marks.

An AA cadet can work on Steam-powered machinery, Diesel and gas turbines, computers, radio or avionics equipment, Electrical power systems, and other complex systems.

So I must suggest you if you want to work as an engineer and want to get more paid than SSR entry, then must join Indian Navy after 12th through AA Sailor entry.

4: Navy Sports Quota Entry

If you are a sports person and want to join Indian Navy after 12th, then this is the best opportunity for you.

But only male candidates are eligible to apply for this entry with the Age of 16-20 years.

Navy MR (Matric Recruit) is basically a matric level entry. So as a 10th pass student, 12th Pass students can also apply, that’s why I put this way in the last of my list.

An MR cadet mainly works as a chef, whose duties are to prepare foods as per menu, accounting of ration & funds, Serve food and maintaining cleanness, and others as per service requirement.

The exam process and age are as same as a sailor’s entry but in this entry, the syllabus would be on 10th basis.

The training period of an MR cadet is 14 weeks. During training, the MR cadet would be required to serve food in the officer’s messes as a server.

Apart from these, they would be also trained for onboard shipping duties, Arms handling, Landing, and boarding parties.
