But before that let me first tell you

Why you should not study hard?

Here I’m listing some practical reasons that students face while studying hard…

  • You study all day and don’t go out your room
  • You pull all night, in result you don’t take enough sleep
  • Study hard and for long hours continuously can affect your physical and mental health
  • You may get tired and bored
  • You don’t have time for other works
  • You don’t enjoy your day

So if you want to get rid of these reasons and want to make your study easy and effective while enjoying your whole day then let’s dive into the tips…

7 Tips to make your study easy not hard

1: Set up your stage for study

Setting up your stage makes your study very effective and productive. Once you set your stage then you won’t get distracted while studying and you won’t need to put in your all effort.

2: Understand the learning pyramid

The learning pyramid is a great theory that every student or learner should know about it.

Wait, Do you know what the learning pyramid is?

The Learning Pyramid, researched and created by the National Training Laboratories in Bethel, Maine, illustrates the percentage of learner recall that is associated with various approaches.
The learning pyramid describes varying learning/teaching methodologies and the retention rates of information from these methodologies. For instance, if a teacher uses only a lecture method of instruction, their students will only retain 5% of the information while the teacher retains 90%.

Look at this image to understand this theory better.

Have you understood how can you retain more information?

Of course what you learn or what your read, must teach others too. You can also teach yourself by recalling the information that you learn. So instead of studying hard and taking time to remember, apply this Learning pyramid theory.

3: SQ3R Study Technique

I am sure this study technique will tell you exactly how to not study hard, not read complete the chapter and grab the most of it by studying smartly.

SQ3R is 5 steps reading comprehension technique. That involves Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review.

  • Survey: Instead of just start reading, first focus on Title of the chapter, Headings and Subheadings, Images (like charts, maps, diagrams, and others), bold and highlighted sentences.
  • Question: After completing the survey, now ask and think yourself what is this chapter all about and what will I learn after reading this chapter, and how it can be helpful in daily life? What do I know already about this chapter?
  • Read: Read one section at a time with your questions in mind and look for the answers that you have made.
  • Recite: Now, after reading a section, recall and summarize (in your mind or write on a paper) what you read and what you learned.
  • Review: After reading all sections or reading a chapter, now review the chapter to understand it deeply. Quiz yourself on the questions you created and re-read any portions you need to.

4: Study in small chunks

Study in small chunks is one of the great ways that won’t make you feel you’re studying hard.

But why it is so?

When you study in small chunks like the Pomodoro technique and take breaks while studying, your mind gets refresh and also you don’t get tired or bored that you often feel after studying 10-12 hours continuously.

120/20 STUDY TECHNIQUE

But If you want to study for long hours then you can use my 120/20 Study Technique that tells you to study continuously for 120 minutes and then take 20-minute breaks, again study for 120 minutes, and then takes 20 minutes break and keep going like this.

Study continuously for 2 hours is enough and the healthiest way of studying and after taking 20 minutes break is enough to refresh your mind by taking a small nap, browsing your social media or anything.

5: Don’t stick with one subject

Your Study can be tough and boring if you stick with one subject only. And if you’re doing this then you need to stop it from now on.

Don’t you feel bored while sticking with one subject and sparing your whole day with that subject?

Sorry to say but for me it’s monotonous. I know there must be some reasons like an exam, to sitting with only one subject. But if you don’t want to study hard then take also some break from that subject.

So what should you do?

The better solution is when you don’t feel like studying then move on to that subject that you like most for 1-2 hrs if that subject is also important.

But in any case, if you really have to study only one subject then instead of studying textbooks or notes try to study by visual learning (next tip), or watch video lectures on YouTube. Or you can make that subject interesting by a quiz to yourself, that will tell you what you learned successfully.

6: Study with Flashcards & Graphics- Visual learning

Visual learning is a great way of learning information easily and retain it for a long time and it’s proven. It is because that videos and images are directly processed by long-term memory.

And the best visual learning sources for students are Images, Flashcards, Graphics, Colors, Diagrams, and maps.

Did you ever study with these?

If not then must study with these. And if you’re worried about how to find visuals for studying then either Google about it or else create by yourself.

Even when you’ll create flashcards and infographics by yourself it will also improve your creativity and you’ll enjoy your study too.

So don’t study hard, make your study easy with visual learning, and if possible then try to wake up early and study.

7: Group Study

Group study is also one of the great ways to make your study easy and learn many things without putting so much effort.

In an effective group study on the one hand where you share your knowledge and on another hand you grab others’ knowledge too that you don’t know.

But do you ever involve in group study or combined studies?

If not then try to arrange a group study with your friends who are good at study and support you. Also, engage yourself and be an active speaker, listener, and learner there.
